July on the Isle of Skye

19 July 2016 . . . . Went to check out the Gentians at Lusa this morning and was surprised to find a considerable crop of fungi as well. I saw Milkcaps, a Waxcap, a Webcap, a Bolete and a Brittlegill.

24 July 2016 . . . . Walking from Strollamus to Luib today I made a few interesting discoveries. Both the clubmoss and the fern are normally found on the hills, so I guess that either a long extinct river, or even a glacier, must have brought them here.

28 July 2016 . . . . Walking along the Kylerhea road I saw quite a few Fox Moth larvae. I photographed a lot of hoverflies and a couple turned out to be ones I hadn't seen before. The Sphaerophoria is likely to be either S. interrupta or S. fatarum, but the two can only be separated under the microscope.
